CODE OF CONDUCT

OpenView’s PLG Summit is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status or religion (or lack thereof). OpenView does not tolerate harassment of conference participants or staff at any time nor in any form.

 

All communication throughout the conference should be appropriate for a professional audience including people of many different backgrounds. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any part of the conference, including talks, or at the conference venue.

Please be kind to others. Do not insult or put down other attendees. Behave professionally. Remember that harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary jokes are not appropriate for this event. 

 

Attendees violating these guidelines may be asked to leave the conference at OpenView’s and/or the conference organizers’ sole discretion and will not have a right to a refund.

Thank you for helping make our event a welcoming, friendly event for all.

 

1. Purpose

A primary goal of OpenView’s PLG Summit is to be inclusive to the largest number of attendees, with the most varied and diverse backgrounds possible. As such, OpenView is committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or religion (or lack thereof). OpenView does not tolerate harassment of conference attendees in any form.

This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all those who participate in our conference, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior.

Please help us create a safe and positive experience for everyone who attends this event.

 

2. Expected Behavior

  • Participate in an authentic and active way. In doing so, you contribute to the health and longevity of this conference.

  • Exercise consideration and respect in your speech and actions.

  • Attempt collaboration before conflict.

  • Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing speech and actions.

  • Be mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow attendees. Alert conference leaders if you notice a dangerous situation, someone in distress, or someone violating this Code of Conduct, even if they seem inconsequential.

3. Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable behaviors include intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning speech and actions by any attendee, event organizer or staff member. This event venue may be shared with members of the public, so please be respectful to anyone who enters the building. 

Harassment includes, but is not limited to, harmful or prejudicial verbal or written comments related to gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, race, religion (or lack thereof), disability, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces (including presentation slides), deliberate intimidation, stalking or following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

 

4. Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

OpenView will not tolerate any unacceptable behavior from any attendee or other participant in the PLG Summit, including sponsors, speakers, and those with decision-making authority.

Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately.

If an attendee or other PLG Summit participant engages in unacceptable behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including a temporary ban or permanent expulsion from this event without warning (and without refund in the case of a paid event).

 

5. If You Witness or Are Subject to Unacceptable Behavior

If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify an OpenView staff member as soon as possible.

Additionally, OpenView staff members are available to attendees to help engage with local law enforcement or to otherwise help attendees who are experiencing unacceptable behavior feel safe. In the context of in-person events, OpenView will also provide escorts by request.

6. Addressing Grievances

If you feel you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct, you should notify OpenView (see contact information below in Section 8) with a concise description of your grievance.

 

7. Scope

OpenView expects all PLG Summit participants (contributors, paid or otherwise; sponsors; and other guests) to abide by this Code of Conduct throughout the conference and while at all conference venues — online and in-person — as well as in all interactions pertaining to event business throughout the duration of the conference.
